One of the newest additions to downtown Mansfield is Ohio Shine Co. located at 126 North Franklin, a moonshine distillery co-owned by friends Jeff Nupen and Scott Palmer.
Jeff was inspired by the moonshine culture he experienced during visits to Tennessee, when he and his family visited After discussing his idea with Scott, the idea took shape, and the rest is history. Recognizing that both Mansfield and Richland County lacked their own distillery, they decided to bring that experience home, creating something special for the community. Chad Hamilton, the building owner, played a significant role in the project. Scott and Jeff mentioned that Chad was selective about renting out the space, wanting to ensure it was the right fit, which ultimately created an opportunity for them. He worked closely with them to help bring their vision for Ohio Shine to life.
Committed to quality, they focus on seven core products, including several moonshines and a premium vodka, all made using the same trusted recipes since their founding to ensure the highest standards. Their offerings feature flavors like peach, apple pie, blackberry, butterscotch, and toasted coconut. They invite visitors to stop by, sample their products, and take some home. They’re located at 126 North Franklin Avenue and are open Fridays from 4-8 pm and Saturdays from 12 pm to 7 pm.
